Hair Hubby Packaging

The Hair Hubby is a patented hair band that keeps your hair smooth and glossy, while you sleep. I wanted to make a keepsake package that a woman wouldn't mind leaving out on her bedside table, and came up with the idea of a powder puff-like box.

I was brought in at the very start this project, and was able to work with the product's inventor on everything from naming to packaging to copywriting and brand attitude.

As we developed a total packaging concept for the Hair Hubby, it was decided we should have the instructions for the product are printed right on the side of the box in illustrated form.
I worked on the naming of the product with my client who wanted something memorable and a little bit cheeky. I wrote all of the taglines and all of the text which appears on the website, too.
As we were working on the package design, we tried several color options. I really like this vaguely vintage-looking peachy-pink but we ultimately decided that a hot red would pop more on the shelf.

Hair Hubby

HairHubby.com is the online portal for the miracle hair care product, Hair Hubby!
I wrote the copy and designed the layout for this site. A programmer worked his magic, getting it online.
The little ladies at the bottom of the screen have pop-up statements that appear once the page has been up for a few seconds.

Sassy!
The overall look and feel of the site brings out the core playful and feminine personality of the brand.

50 Sting Label

My Dad has a beehive - How cool is that?!

He got 20 pounds of honey this year - and I made him this label to commemorate the number of stings it took to get there (he came up with the name - I love it).

Fast Company: Father's Day

When Fast Company asked me to work on their Numerology/Father's Day, I came up with a scrabook-like format that doubled as a Father's Day surprise for my Dad!

Sometime in early April, I asked my Mom if she would send me some old photographs of my father with my brother and I. She didn't know what they were for, and I didn't tell. So, the first time they saw this image was when the magazine arrived in the mail and it was printed full-page. Heheh.

Happy Father's Day, Dad!
Here are my two favorite photos of my father with my brother and me. See that little shot on the side? That's my brother and father today. I think they're on a hill, which explains the height difference. Although my brother does tend to stand on his toes in photos (just at the last minute, to make everyone else look short). (True).

The sunflower is another little detail: my father has an enormous sunflower garden in the front yard. This image is an actual flower from his garden.

Washington Post: 4th of July

Three cheers for the Washington Post! They gave me a great set of Fourth of July-related factoids and let me go to town.

The building at the bottom is based on my high school by a hill, where I go to watch fireworks every year.
I created this firework scenario solely from typopgraphy and typographic dingbats. Here is a closeup
